How to make a daily examination:
|
|
"In the secret of my heart teach me wisdom."
1st: In the morning determine what is your resolution or personal spiritual project (what defect will I work against or what virtue will I try to acquire). Ask God to help you with this resolution.
2nd: At midday two things must be done-
a. Recall how many times I have failed in my resolution. Review hour by hour. Record it in a little book or notebook, noting how many times you failed and why.
b. Renew your resolution.
3rd: At the end of the day, make the examination again, making note of your falls since the midday exam. Ask for forgiveness for all the times you failed and thank God for the times you were victorious. Look forward to tomorrow and how you can improve.
*At the end of the week compare each day to pinpoint any signs of improvement. Resolve to keep working and entrust yourself to God's strength.

Lectio Divina
Prayer Before Reading Sacred Scripture:
Lord, inspire me to read your Scriptures and to meditate upon them day and night. I beg you to give me understanding of what I need, that I in turn may put its precepts into practice. Yet, I know that understanding and good intentions are worthless, unless rooted in your graceful love. So I ask that the words of Scripture may also be not just signs on a page, but channels of grace into my heart.
+Amen.
